Boston Pizza Reaches 50-store Mark In Ontario

Six new store openings in one month – a new record

(Monday, October 31, 2005) - Boston Pizza International Inc., Canada's fastest growing casual dining chain, has opened six new locations in Ontario over the past month, reaching the 50-store mark in the province.


"The opening of our 50th restaurant in Ontario is a significant milestone for Boston Pizza," says Mark Pacinda, President of Boston Pizza International Inc. "This is another great achievement in our 41 year history."


Boston Pizza's October openings include locations in Ajax, Brockville, Etobicoke, Gravenhurst and two in Scarborough. The 50th Ontario restaurant is located in Scarborough at 890 Warden Ave. at Eglinton, which opens its doors today.


"It took Boston Pizza seven years to open 50 restaurants in Ontario," says Ken Otto, Executive Vice President, of BPI in Eastern Canada. "Over the next year, we will substantially increase our presence across the province as we plan to open another 20 locations in 2006. Our impressive growth in Ontario is a testament to the great service and product that our franchisees provide to our guests."


Boston Pizza opened a regional office in Mississauga in 1997 to provide local support to franchisees. The Mississauga office now has a staff of 50 restaurant professionals, while the company's franchisees employ more than 4000 full-time and part-time people in Ontario, with each store opening creating 80-100 new jobs.
