Yo, It's Philly Cheesesteak Burgers(tm) At Carl's Jr.(r)

Burgers Topped With Philly-Style Steak, Veggies and Cheese for Authentic Cheesesteak Experience

(Wednesday, November 15, 2006) - Today Carl's Jr.(R)
announces a new line of burgers that would make even Rocky swoon: the Philly
Cheesesteak Burgers(TM). Built like they sound, the burgers offer a one-two
punch of thinly sliced steak and a juicy, charbroiled burger patty, finished
off with peppers, onions, Swiss and American cheeses, and mayonnaise on a
seeded bun.

For those willing to step into the ring, Carl's Jr. plans to offer three
mouth-watering sizes. For light-weights, there is the single -- enough meat
and cheese and meat to get the juices flowing. Middle-weights may be tempted
by a double burger, and heavy-weights will delight in the Philly Cheesesteak
Six Dollar Burger(TM) -- about a half-pound 100 percent Angus beef patty
topped with the requisite thin-sliced steak, peppers, onions, cheese and mayo.

"Other restaurants have topped burgers with cheese, peppers and onions,
and called them 'cheesesteak burgers,' but they didn't taste like a
cheesesteak burger," said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing
for Carl's Jr. "They just tasted like burgers with cheese, peppers and onion
on them. So, when we set out to make a true Philly cheesesteak burger that
really tasted like the marriage of those two great sandwiches, we literally
put a cheesesteak on a burger, steak and all."

Haley continued, "The Philly Cheesesteak Burgers are another example of
the combination of a classic American sandwich and another American classic,
the burger. Our first foray into this area was with the Pastrami Burger,
originally introduced in 2004 and brought back again this past summer. Jay
Leno even joked on the Tonight Show that he couldn't believe we would use meat
as a condiment for meat, but people liked the Pastrami Burger so much that we
began exploring other meat-on-meat burger-sandwich combinations and the
results was the Philly Cheesesteak Burger line."

The Philly Cheesesteak Burgers are offered in three varieties: as a single
for $3.49, a double for $4.49 and a Six Dollar Burger for $4.99. Pricing may
vary regionally.

Television advertising to promote the new burgers offers an affectionate
tribute to the birthplace of the namesake sandwich and the rich parlance of
its inhabitants. In the 30-second spot, two cabbies exchange pleasantries,
sample the Philly Cheesesteak Burger, and admire a few passersby while the
viewer is given the courtesy of subtitles. The commercial, created by
advertising agency of record Mendelsohn|Zien, begins airing in Carl's Jr.
markets Monday, Nov. 27.
