The Pastrami Burger(tm) Makes A Comeback At Carl's Jr.(r)

(Wednesday, July 26, 2006) - Popular Limited-Time Offering Returns to Menu The marriage of
meat that spawned a new way to think about burger toppings is back: the
Pastrami Burger(TM) hits the menu again at Carl's Jr. today. Introduced as
the original meat-as-a-condiment hamburger in late 2004, the mix of thinly
sliced pastrami, tangy yellow mustard, tart pickles, fresh produce, and a
juicy, all-beef patty drew rave reviews from customers and cries for its
return when its run expired in early 2005.

"The Pastrami Burger was one of the most popular limited-time burgers in
our history," said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for
Carl's Jr. "And it's understandable why, since it combines two great
tastes -- a delicious Carl's Jr. burger and a classic, steaming hot pastrami
sandwich -- into one awesome mutant burger. So, we're pleased to be able to
bring it back this summer to give existing fans what they've been asking for
and to give first-timers another chance to enjoy what they may have missed."

Pastrami burgers, longtime favorites at local landmark burger joints such
as The Hat in Los Angeles and Crown Burgers in Salt Lake City, made their
major debut in the QSR industry when Carl's Jr. caught on to the phenomenon
and introduced one in November of 2004. The unexpected pairing met praise
among a wide audience, and its meat-on-meat appeal is even credited with being
the inspiration for the Philly Cheesesteak Thickburger, introduced at sister
chain Hardee's this past April. Today, Carl's Jr. brings the cult classic
full circle with the return of the Pastrami Burger to nearly one thousand
restaurants across the west.

The Pastrami Burger at Carl's Jr. features a charbroiled, all-beef patty
topped with hot, thinly sliced pastrami, red onion, dill pickles, lettuce,
tomato and mustard, sandwiched between two toasted, seeded buns.
Participating restaurants will offer the Pastrami Burger at a suggested retail
price of $3.79 for a single ($5.59 for a combo) and $4.79 for a double ($6.59
for a combo).

This year, Carl's Jr. celebrates 65 years in the quick-service industry.
