Taste The Good Life! Long John Silver's® Brings Buttered Langostino Lobster Bites To America Just In Time For Lent
(Monday, February 27, 2006) -
Leave it to the world's most popular quick-service seafood chain to add some excitement to the dining season during Lent, a time when seafood consumption increases. This year, Long John Silver's is introducing Buttered Lobster Bites™, made with real langostino lobster.
Buttered Lobster Bites are bite-sized pieces of real langostino lobster prepared in a buttery breading. Perfect for eating on the go, Lobster Bites are available in a portable Snack Box for just $2.99. (Pricing and participation may vary by location.)
"Our customers tell us they crave the taste of lobster, but they don't have $20 to spend – and an hour to waste – in order to get it," said Don Gates, Director of Marketing for Long John Silver's. "Now, with the introduction of our new Buttered Lobster Bites, customers can enjoy the taste of real langostino lobster at a fast food restaurant, served quickly and at a great price."
Long John Silver's Buttered Lobster Bites will be available for a limited time. In addition to the $2.99 Snack Box, Lobster Bites are also available in a Combo (including Lobster Bites, one piece of Fish, fries, hushpuppies and a 22-ounce drink for $4.99) and a Platter (which includes Lobster Bites, two pieces of Fish, fries, slaw and hushpuppies for $6.99).
Gates points out that practically every fast-food chain offers a cookie-cutter style fish sandwich during Lent, but it takes a company like Long John Silver's to offer an exciting menu item like Lobster Bites.
"We appeal to seafood lovers year round; this isn't a part-time job for us," Gates said. "That's why you'll find an exciting product like Buttered Lobster Bites only at Long John Silver's, while the seafood pretenders' serve up their generic fish sandwiches for Lent."
Gates advised that customers should act quickly if they want to enjoy the taste of real langostino lobster at Long John Silver's. "Lobster season doesn't last forever," he said.
Gates added that Long John Silver's is investing millions of dollars during Lent to bring the Buttered Lobster Bites message to America. From television and radio advertising to billboards, the internet and other marketing vehicles, Long John Silver's is "reaching out to everyday Americans who want a taste of the good life."
