Accounting Today Names Liberty Tax Service's Ceo One Of Industry's Most Influential For 5 Th Consecutive Year

(Tuesday, September 27, 2005) - Liberty Tax Service CEO and Founder John Hewitt is recognized as one of the Accounting Today's Top 100 most influential persons in the tax industry for a fifth straight year. The annual list is based on each of the individual's contributions, accomplishments, and influence during their accounting careers, and was unveiled in the September 26, 2005 issue.

Hewitt's tenure in the tax industry spans 36 years. His accomplishments include the founding of two franchised services that Entrepreneur magazine has ranked on their Franchise 500: Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and Liberty Tax Service. During his early career, Hewitt climbed up the H&R Block management ranks to become the youngest regional director in the H&R Block operating system, and managed over 2000 preparers in over 250 offices. He enrolled in a tax school course in 1969 that launched his career into the industry.

Under his leadership, Liberty Tax Service's solid growth has established the third largest tax company as the fastest growing ever. The company has over 1700 offices currently operating in the United States and Canada. In fiscal year 2005, Liberty Tax prepared over 1 million tax returns. This represents an increase of over 200,000 returns which was the highest in the industry.
