Entrepreneur Magazine Ranks Liberty Tax "a Top 10 Franchise For 2006"

(Monday, December 19, 2005) - Liberty Tax Service has climbed higher up the ranks of Entrepreneur magazine's latest Franchise 500. In the January 2006 issue of Entrepreneur , Liberty has advanced to #10 overall, #14 fastest growing, and #5 for low-cost franchises on the latest Franchise 500. In 9 years, Liberty Tax Service has reached the size that it took the other national tax franchises, H&R Block (NYSE:HRB), and Jackson Hewitt (NYSE:JTX) 13 years to reach. Liberty's founder and CEO, John Hewitt is the only person to have founded and developed two franchise systems ranked in the top ten. Hewitt is also the founder of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service.

Entrepreneur reports that "franchising is booming" and "the number of franchised business units has increased 11% in 2005." The annual Franchise 500 is a highly regarded industry research tool for those who are exploring franchise opportunities. The criteria that determines the rankings includes consideration of financial strength, stability, growth rate, size of system, number of years in business, start-up costs, litigation and the length of time that the company has been franchising.
