Lights, Camera ... Mmmm ... Krystal

FAST FOOD ICON RETURNS TO JACKSONVILLE TO SHOOT REALITY-BASED COMMERCIALS, DEC. 1-4. KRYSTAL IS LOOKING FOR JACKSONVILLE KRYSTAL BREAKFAST LOVERS TO STAR IN SPOTS

(Monday, November 28, 2005) - he Krystal Company, the fast food icon famous for its small, square hamburgers and big taste menu items craved by a cult-like following all across the South, is returning to Jacksonville this December to shoot a new series of reality-based commercials in which Jacksonville Krystal Lovers will be the stars. The commercial shoot, which is scheduled for Thursday, December 1 through Sunday, December 4, will mark the third time Krystal has set up its cameras and crews in Jacksonville to film the copy free television commercials.

"Jacksonville has proven to be a great city to shoot our commercials, with so many great locations to choose from as well as lots of Krystal Lovers eager to share their passion for the food they grew up loving," said Mike Williams, vice president of marketing, The Krystal Company. "Our customers have always been the stars of the Krystal brand, going all the way back to French Jenkins, our first customer 73 years ago, to the people we serve today, and we continue to look for ways to celebrate them and their stories, whether it is casting them as the stars in our commercials or honoring them with a spot in our Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame."

Krystal recently established the Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame as a way to honor and celebrate its most dedicated and diehard Krystal Lovers. Twenty inductees from across the South were announced in October, and they are currently being featured in commercials, on in-store displays and on Krystal Hamburger and Cheese Krystal boxes.

For the Jacksonville commercial shoot, Krystal representatives and production crews will scout out unique localities and search for lively Krystal Lovers, at least 18 years of age, who have a passion for starting their day off with a hot Krystal breakfast and are comfortable hamming it up in front of the camera without a script. The reality-based television commercials are scheduled to begin airing in March 2006 and will feature real people having fun as they chat with a special interactive video prompter about Krystal's signature breakfast lineup, including the famous Krystal Breakfast Scramblers, which revolutionized breakfast on-the-go by taking a traditional breakfast plate and stacking each menu item in a convenient, easy to carry bowl that can be enjoyed either scrambled up or devoured layer by layer.

Look Into the Prompter and Say "Krystal"
Just like Krystal's big taste menu items that are often consumed in multiples, Krystal is looking for friends to show up in multiples to set locations in Jacksonville. At the designated locations, selected people will be treated to a hot Krystal breakfast before appearing in front of the specially created video prompter, referred to on set as the "Varnson Prompter." Sounds a little devious? Well, it's a revolutionary, two-way video prompter that doubles as a camera used to film the commercials. With the Varnson Prompter, people interact live with a "man in a box" about themselves, Krystal and the food they so deeply love. This man in a box is likewise looking into a two-way video prompter from a remote location, and the effect is that the participants completely forget they are looking directly into a camera and are filming a commercial. Inhibitions are completely put aside, and the conversation and responses are real and are the kind that could only happen without a script.

The Krystal Breakfast - Fresh, Hot, Distinctive and Big in Taste
When Krystal introduced its Original Breakfast Scrambler two years ago, it revolutionized breakfast for the "on the go" lifestyle by serving up a traditional plate breakfast stacked smartly in a bowl and conveniently enjoyed scrambled up or layer by layer. It was an innovation that transformed the morning rush crowd into the dashboard dining jet set that could coolly consume a hearty hot breakfast on the way to work or class. Krystal has since heated up the a.m. up even more with the introduction of three additional breakfast-in-a-bowl Scramblers: the 4 Carb Scrambler, Pancake Scrambler, the Sausage Gravy Scrambler and the Southwestern Scrambler.

While the Breakfast Scrambler line is certainly its most popular, Krystal has been an industry leader in serving breakfast since 1932. Krystal's breakfast menu also includes the Krystal Sunriser (sausage, egg and cheese on a Krystal bun), Krystal Chik Biscuit, the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, the Sausage Biscuit, the Sausage Gravy Biscuit, Hash Brown Kryspers, and a Country Breakfast (eggs, bacon or sausage, Hash Brown Kryspers or grits, biscuit or toast).
