The Krystal Company Appoints James Bear As Chief Financial Officer

(Friday, April 07, 2006) - The Krystal Company, the fast food icon famous for its fresh, hot, small, square hamburgers and little food with the big taste, announced today the appointment of James W. Bear as the company's vice president and chief financial officer.

"Jim's financial and business expertise as well as his significant background in the quick service industry adds tremendous strength to our senior management team," said Fred Exum, president and chief executive officer, The Krystal Company. Bear brings more than 35 years of financial, accounting and senior management experience to The Krystal Company. Bear most recently served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for The Steak n Shake Company, where he was instrumental in the publicly traded company's growth from 100 locations to more than 400 locations. Bear's responsibilities during his more than 25 years with Steak n Shake included finance and planning, accounting and information technology, administration, investor relations, purchasing and distribution, and construction.
