Resale Items Find Buyers At Kid To Kid

(Thursday, April 21, 2005) - So many of my friends and family have been sharing the great deals they've found at the new children's resale shop Kid to Kid that I had to check it out myself.

The Peoria store takes an old idea - buying and selling all those rapidly outgrown clothes, toys and all the other stuff that come with kids - and sets it in a bright, expansive shop that makes thrifty shopping enjoyable.

They said they've received a "tremendous response" from people looking to declutter and from shoppers.
Lisa Newlin of Peoria has become a regular, stopping in weekly. She has three children - 2, 4 and 6 years old - and is expecting a fourth in December. She has sold some outgrown items and lately has been buying maternity clothing at the store, which has deals like a Motherhood-brand blouse for $6.99.

Along with resale clothing and toys, the store carries many new items. Most of the accessories are new, including large Dr. Seuss waterproof bibs with a crumb-catcher pocket ($5.99).

Of course, the best deals can be found among the resale items. The stock is constantly changing, but some of the standouts included a huge Little Tikes outdoor play castle with slide ($159.99) that costs about $350 new. There were also several strollers, including a Jeep-brand double stroller ($109.99). The racks of new clothing arrivals included lots of name brands, like a yellow sun dress with a Nordstrom Rack tag still on it ($7.99), a boy's size 10 Nike T-shirt ($3.99) and infant-size Nike sneakers ($5.99).

True to its name, the store has set aside a small play area for kids to keep busy while parents shop. But with used children's books for around $1.50 each and low-priced used toys, they might not mind shopping here either.
