Outdoor Lighting Perspectives Introduces New Lighting Control Automation System

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives' New Lighting Control Automation System Provides Limitless Options

(Tuesday, April 25, 2006) - Already the nation's largest landscape and architectural lighting company, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives is offering a new lighting control automation system that makes lighting capabilities – both inside and outside the home – more versatile than ever before.

Utilizing technology that makes use of existing 110V electrical wiring, Outdoor Lighting Perspective experts can transform a house into a "smart" home, allowing homeowners to manually or automatically turn both interior and exterior lights and appliances on and off. When controlled manually, "one touch" technology allows homeowners to control several lights or appliances with the flick of a single switch or multiple switches located throughout the home.

The system can be programmed to do everything from allowing the homeowner to flash the front porch lights in order to alert an emergency vehicle or pizza delivery person to sequentially turning lights on throughout a home if an outdoor motion sensor detects movement, even if the homeowner is not present.

"We began looking for ways to help consumers control their outdoor lights in an easy manner. But as we did more research, we realized it would be smart for us to also look inside the home and see how we could improve lighting options there," said Scott Zide, Outdoor Lighting Perspective's vice president.

A proprietary timing device is the centerpiece of the new lighting control automation system. Once programmed by Outdoor Lighting Perspective installers, there's nothing for homeowners to do. The device's advanced technology automatically adjusts for Daylight Savings Time and even leap years. A home's longitudinal and latitudinal settings are also input, allowing the timing device to automatically adjust to changing sunrise and sunset times.

The smorgasbord of options allows homeowners to customize a package to fit their lighting needs, whatever they might be.

"Your imagination is the only thing stopping you," said Bob Lyons, Sr., an Outdoor Lighting Perspective franchisee with offices in Nashville and Austin, Texas, who is also a principal in Nashville-based B&B Manufacturing, Outdoor Lighting Perspective's exclusive provider of landscape lighting.

Homeowners can choose from a variety of options:

"A" Package (Under $500): This basic package allows customers to manually or automatically control landscape lighting only. Lights can be turned on and off remotely from inside the home.

"B" Package (Under $700): In addition to landscape lighting, this package allows homeowners to add manual and automatic control of front-porch lighting utilizing a dual switch inside the home. Front-porch lighting can be programmed to operate at varying degrees of brightness for energy conservation. If guests arrive, a homeowner can easily switch to full brightness using the wall switch.

"C" Package (Up to $5,000): This package adds automatic or manual control of approximately five or six additional appliances or lights. For example, when a customer activates an automatic garage door opener upon returning home, lights throughout the home will also turn on. The system can also be programmed to automatically turn lights on or off in different modes while a family is on vacation.

"D" Package (Up to $15,000): This server-enabled package – perfect for a vacation home - provides the ultimate in convenience, allowing the homeowner to remotely control multiple home functions from a laptop or desktop computer. The homeowner cannot only turn lights or appliances on or off, but also control such things as the heating and air conditioning systems and water heater.

With more than 70 U.S. locations, Outdoor Lighting Perspective is a comprehensive provider of high-end architectural and landscape lighting systems. Its franchisees are experts in enhancing outdoor living and increasing the appeal of any property.

Outdoor Lighting Perspective's only business is outdoor lighting and it markets its services primarily to affluent homeowners. One of Outdoor Lighting Perspective's biggest advantages is being able to offer evening design and demonstration visits, where Outdoor Lighting Perspective design experts can actually light up homes using a portable lighting system.

Zide believes Outdoor Lighting Perspective's new lighting control automation system will not only serve to attract new customers, but also prove attractive to an existing customer base of almost 50,000 homeowners. Customers can easily upgrade the system as they grow accustomed to its many benefits.

"We fully expect our new system to become a normal staple of what we do," Zide said. "We made our name in outdoor lighting and now we're glad to be carrying our reputation inside the home."
