After Serving Over One Billion Wings And Expanding Into 19 States, Former Washington Redskin Opens 200th Beef o' Brady's Franchise Location On May 1
20-Year-Old Florida-based Chain Celebrates Landmark Opening in Georgia
WINDOR, GEORGIA (Wednesday, April 26, 2006) -
After celebrating its 20th anniversary, the good times keep rolling for Beef O' Brady's as former NFL player Derek Smith will open the chain's 200th location on May 1, 2006 in Winder, GA, 17 Monroe Highway, Suite W, just outside of Atlanta.
After knee injuries ended his NFL career in 2000 with the Washington Redskins at age 25, the former NFL lineman decided to turn toward a business career, a path many other former athletes have followed. However, rather than starting his own venture, Smith decided to join an already established and proven franchise concept -- Beef O' Brady's.
"Franchising is a viable option for former athletes because of the structured support system in place," said Nick Vojnovic, President of Family Sports Concepts, Inc., the parent company of the Beef O' Brady's franchise. "We have several former professional athletes in our system. For many athletes, a family sports pub feels like home for them."
Smith first learned about Beef O' Brady's, a fast-growing family-friendly sports pub/restaurant franchise heavily involved in local communities, when the South Florida high school football team he was coaching won the Beef O' Brady's sponsored State Championship.
"After my NFL career ended, owning a Beef O' Brady's seemed like the perfect concept for my wife Liz, and me. We are honored to be the franchise owners of the 200th location and plan to become an integral part of the greater Atlanta community with our Winder Beef's," Smith said.
Through strategic growth, Beef O' Brady's has reached the impressive 200th restaurant milestone. "Reaching the 200-store mark is a significant milestone for our company and for our franchise partners as it illustrates the strength of the Beef O' Brady's brand and system," Vojnovic said. "In the beginning, many skeptics said it would be impossible to combine a family atmosphere with a sports bar, but Beef O' Brady's has withstood the test of time and is only getting better. With family and community at the core of our successful business model, we have struck a chord with consumers, entrepreneurs and communities around the nation."
Beef 'O' Brady's of Winder will feature large screen TVs, complemented by smaller screens strategically placed for viewing from anywhere in the restaurant. It also will feature interactive video games for children.
Ironically, despite what its name implies, Beef 'O' Brady's is best known for its famous Buffalo chicken wings. Originally, the chain's menu featured a variety of menu items that featured beef. Later, founder Jim Mellody added his own recipe for Buffalo chicken wings, making the restaurant a "hot" place to eat. In fact, his sauce is bottled under a private label and sold on the Beef O' Brady's web site. Beef's also offers chicken fingers, a variety of sandwiches, burgers and select desserts. As a family-oriented concept, Beef 'O' Brady's of Winder will limit its alcohol to beer and wine only and closes at 11 p.m.
About Beef 'O' Bradys Beef 'O' Brady's is a fast-growing national chain of family sports pubs that achieves its success by building relationships with the local schools, youth sports leagues, and other community organizations in each and every Beef 'O' Brady's neighborhood market. The "kid appeal" of this unique concept is reinforced by a very moderately priced kids menu and video games. Ironically, despite what the name implies, Beef 'O' Brady's is actually best known for its Buffalo-style chicken wings. Beef O' Brady's has 200 locations with plans to open additional locations by the end of 2006.
