Handyman Connection Names Colorado Springs Handyman "International Craftsman Of The Year"

Award Reflects Outstanding Customer Satisfaction

(Wednesday, December 10, 2003) - Handyman Connection, the nation's leading provider of home improvement and remodeling services, recently named John Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, South Carolina the company's 2003 "International Craftsman of the Year." Thompson was chosen for the award from among more than 4,000 Handyman Connection network craftsmen throughout the United States and Canada.

"John Thompson represents the very best of what Handyman Connection is all about," says Keith Hahn, Handyman Connection's vice president and chief operating officer. "He was a natural for the award this year because his work is outstanding, he's easy to work with and our customers love him."

The Handyman Connection International Craftsman of the Year distinction is awarded based on a number of factors, including customer referral letters, quality of work performed, volume of Handyman Connection work performed, professional attitude and more. The review committee also considers the craftsman's commitment to his/her community, reviewing the individual's local charitable activity and civic involvement. To be considered for the award, a craftsman must perform at least eight jobs a month for Handyman Connection customers and must perform at least 98 percent of that work without call-backs (John had no call backs at all).

A multi-skilled craftsman, Thompson joined Handyman Connection network of contractors through the company's Colorado Springs franchise in 2000. Known for his positive attitude and high level of skill in a number of categories, Thompson quickly became a favorite among customers, craftsmen and employees of the Colorado Springs franchise.

"Customers see John as someone who is friendly, competent and honest," says Denis Shelley, owner of Handyman Connection's Colorado Springs franchise. "Just as important, other craftsmen see John as a role model, and his positive attitude and professional stature are an inspiration."

Handyman Connection customers echo Shelley's assessment. During the nomination and review process for the International Craftsman of the Year Award, the review committee was overwhelmed by level of praise Thompson's clients shared with reviewers.

"The homeowners who have been served by John clearly understand he is very special, and they obviously appreciate Handyman Connection's commitment to continue adding more people like John to its network of craftsmen," Hahn adds.
