Potential Equipment Variances Eliminated In Favor Of Consistency

(Saturday, May 15, 2004) - Hair SaloonŽ Products Company, an operating unit of Hair SaloonŽ For Men, has announced a partnership with OsterŽ Professional Products, a division of Sunbeam, that calls for all Hair SaloonŽ PHDs (Professional Hair Designers) to use the same haircutting equipment.

"The key to a great haircut - or a great franchise, for that matter - is consistency," said Tom Meyer, one of three company founders and responsible for franchise development. "Since the day we opened, we've always kept diligent 'client notes' about every customer's haircutting preference, and we update those notes during and after every visit. Now, a customer can go to any PHD in our system knowing his haircutting profile won't be compromised by potential equipment variances among stylists."

Starting in May, Hair SaloonŽ PHDs will be outfitted with a specially designed, Saloon-branded OsterŽ Titan clipper, long recognized as the industry standard. Hair SaloonŽ PHDs will also use OsterŽ brand trimmers; combs; and standard-gauged blades and guards, key to a consistent haircut. The partnership also calls for initial and continuing OsterŽ Professional Training of Hair SaloonŽ PHDs.

According to at least one well-traveled expert, commenting on the enthusiasm demonstrated at a recent OsterŽ launch party celebrated by all company employees, Hair SaloonŽ PHDs are eager for the transition. "I make over 200 training-show appearances a year in the U.S. and abroad," said David Guerin, Artistic Director for the OsterŽ Professional Team. "The Hair SaloonŽ crowd was as enthusiastic and attentive as any I've ever seen."


Besides the OsterŽ partnership, Hair SaloonŽ also enjoys exclusive product relationships with Anheuser-Busch and Coca-Cola, whereby Hair SaloonŽ offers O'Doul's and Coke products as part of its complimentary beverage service. "Our first consideration in entertaining every potential relationship is quality," Meyer said. "We believe our quality partners are like-minded and, therefore, we feel we can accept these partnerships as legitimate endorsements of our own, Hair SaloonŽ commitment to quality."

There are currently eight Hair SaloonŽ locations in the St. Louis area; and three new franchisees will build 11 new stores over the next few years, bringing the area total to 19. In addition to area franchise development, Hair SaloonŽ Franchise Company (headquartered in West Port Plaza) continues to receive franchise inquiries from, and is holding private meetings with, area developer candidates in selected U.S. and international markets.
