Great Clips Partners With Natinal Brands

Partnerships attract customers, employees

(Tuesday, March 01, 2005) - Over the past few years, the Great Clips name has become synonymous with other major national brands like Sprint, Best Buy, Coca-Cola, Cheerios, Hasbro, Blockbuster, and Dream Works Motion Pictures. These unlikely partnerships have created several successful promotions at Great Clips salons throughout North America.

"Partnering with large, well-known brands has become a very effective way to attract new customers to our salons," said Vice President of Marketing Terri Miller. "It creates excitement among our staff because we are doing promotions with brands that customers and stylists are familiar with and can relate to."

The company's most recent promotional partner, Dream Works, produced the movie "Shark Tale" in 2004. Great Clips partnered with Dream Works to promote both brands via a co-promotion with that movie. Dream Works put their "Shark Tale" marketing in Great Clips salons and commercials, and a likeness of a Great Clips salon appeared in the movie.

Great Clips spends millions of dollars each year in marketing to build its brand. In doing so, the company has become a very attractive choice for customers who are interested in these partnerships. These partnerships have also begun drawing great interest to Great Clips by potential employees.

"I saw the movie ‘Shark Tale' mentioned several times in a Great Clips commercial, and I loved the animation so much that I decided to see the movie. I was in the middle of cosmetology school, and I had never seen another company do anything that unique. I wanted to see more, so I went to work for Great Clips," said a stylist from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Great Clips will continue to look for ways to align its name with major recognizable brands. "When we do something like this, it is a win-win for both companies," said Terri Miller, "and if we can attract good people – both customers and stylists – because of partnerships like this, we have no choice but to continue this trend."
