Golftec Brings Elite-level Training To South Florida Golfers
New Boca Raton Learning Center Offers High-Tech Instruction
BOCA RATON, MIAMI AND HOLLYWOOD (Thursday, September 01, 2005) -
The use of advanced technology to aid in golf instruction is sweeping the country and is now making its way to Boca Raton with the opening of GolfTEC Learning Center's third South Florida location. GolfTEC is a national chain of golf instruction facilities that provides golfers of all skill levels the opportunity to use digital video, impact analysis, biofeedback technology and motion-evaluation computers to develop their swing. PGA Teaching Professionals provide all instruction.
"State-of-the-art technology is the foundation for our approach to golf instruction," said Scott Young, PGA Professional and President of the South Florida GolfTEC franchise. "The traditional golf lesson is given by an instructor using only his eyes, or maybe video and ultimately relies upon the individual opinion of that one instructor. The GolfTEC method relies on facts recorded by patented, sophisticated equipment that is analyzed by PGA professionals. No one else can provide such advanced coaching."
Based on its well established popularity in other states, and its successful openings in Miami and Hollywood in 2005, GolfTEC predicts the need for seven to ten South Florida locations. Joe Nunez, former Director of Instruction in Miami, will be opening GolfTEC's third South Florida location. GolfTEC Boca Raton, located at 694 Yamato Road, Suite #2 in the brand new Boca Village at the corner of Yamato Road and Congress Avenue, will be opening in March 2006. "We are excited to bring GolfTEC's lesson quality and dedication to growing the game of golf to Boca Raton," said Nunez.
GolfTEC will open three additional learning centers, covering Coral Gables, Sawgrass and West Palm Beach, by spring 2007.
Robert Newman, an entrepreneur and part-time Miami resident, is the GolfTEC franchise owner for South Florida. Newman, a long-time investor in the corporate parent, says, "As a computer person, I was attracted to GolfTEC by the encompassing technology used in the instruction system. That technology continues to improve, adding science to the art of golf."
During a lesson, GolfTEC students wear small sensors that measure key movements throughout the golf swing. One of GolfTEC's PGA professionals on staff will analyze that information and compare it to a database of top PGA TOUR players. The student receives instant feedback to achieve ideal swing parameters. Students can then review video of their lesson with specific follow-up drills and notes through the GolfTEC web site.
According to Young, GolfTEC also incorporates other aspects of golf into their instruction to produce better golfers, not just golfers with a better swing. The "TEC" in GolfTEC stands for Technique, Equipment and Conditioning. Instructors provide guidance on how to make the body better suited for golf and provide custom club fitting.
"Golfers love the GolfTEC system because it's so easy to visualize and understand what needs to be improved. They also enjoy the flexibility of our lessons – we position our centers within business communities making it convenient for business professionals to take lessons anytime of day or night. Also with the number of teaching facilities we will open in the area, all South Florida golfers will have the opportunity to enjoy the GolfTEC experience," said Young. "Improvement time is cut dramatically with our system so students see scores drop quickly. And the online component allows students to access their video footage and practice techniques from home, work or on the road."
