Golden Corral Awards 69 New Franchised Markets In 21 States During First Eight Months Of 2004, Sets Sights On Record High Above 72 Awards Made In 2003

(Wednesday, September 01, 2004) - Awards by Golden Corral Corporation of markets for new franchise development continued at a record rate during the first eight months of 2004 with commitments received for developing 69 new franchised markets in 21 states.

Larry Tate, Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales, said the performance during the January-August, 2004 period keeps the company comfortably ahead of both the current budget goal and the pace set in 2003 when full-year sales reached an all-time high of 72.

"The future growth of the Golden Corral system will be in all directions across the nation as we build out our traditional home markets in the Southeast," Mr. Tate said. "The Midwest and Far West are our most active regions for development this year and New York and New Jersey are coming along well also."

There are 465 units in the Golden Corral system, 348 operated by franchisees and 117 restaurants owned and operated by the company.
