First Half 2004 System Wide Sales Increase

GOLDEN CORRAL FIRST HALF SYSTEMWIDE SALES INCREASE 8.5%, RISING TO RECORD $621.7 MILLION

(Thursday, July 15, 2004) - Golden Corral systemwide sales for the 24 weeks of 2004 ended June 16 (first half) increased 8.5 per cent over the comparable period of 2003, rising to a record $621.7 million, compared to $572.8 million a year ago.

There were 14 new restaurant openings in the first half, boosting the systemwide store count to 475. Franchisees operate 357 units and 118 are company-owned and operated.

Same-store sales were up 3.3 percent in the first half.
