Franchise Sales Continue Record Pace

AT GOLDEN CORRAL 26 NEW MARKETS AWARDED IN FIRST HALF OF 2004

RALEIGH, N.C. (Thursday, July 01, 2004) - Franchise sales for Golden Corral continued at a record rate in the first half of 2004 with eight new franchise entities signed and commitments received to develop 26 new markets, the buffet and grill system announced.

Larry Tate, Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales, said that the performance during the January-June period keeps the company comfortably ahead of both the budget goal and the pace established in full-year 2003 when an all-time high of 72 new market awards were made.

"Documents are out to two additional franchise prospects and we expect to have them signed and paid in early July, which gives a kick-start to the second half of the year," Mr. Tate said. "Also in the next few weeks, we'll be meeting with four or five highly qualified restaurant operators and business people and we're optimistic that they will join our franchise community.
