Erbert & Gerbert's Subs & Clubs Breaks New Ground In Denver, Co

DENVER, CO (Wednesday, February 15, 2006) - The franchising company has signed an agreement to open two franchise stores in Denver this summer, with plans for a third location in the Denver area to follow.

In keeping with Erbert & Gerbert's irreverent image, new franchise owner Jacob Gram isn't your typical entrepreneur, but somewhat of a Norwegian cowboy who came to Denver by way of Connecticut! Originally from Oslo, Norway, Gram's background combines the theory of an MBA with a concentration in hospitality finance, with a breadth of service positions ranging from ski instructor to head waiter.

While searching for the right franchise concept, Jacob was introduced to Erbert & Gerbert's thorough a friend and immediately gravitated toward the product which mirrored consumers' changing dining habits. Although the Erbert & Gerbert's brand is new in Denver, the city's market demographics are similar to many of the locations where Erbert & Gerbert's has enjoyed strong success, including the Twin Cities area. "This concept has proven extremely popular on college campuses and in urban markets," noted Gram. He expects the companies catering business to be a strong sales driver in Denver's urban area, while the delivery and late night hours will boost sales in the college market.

Erbert & Gerbert's opened 8 new units in 2005. "Entering new geographic markets is an important part of our long-term growth strategy. We're currently analyzing other markets that reflect the demographics and real estate profiles of markets we've established strong sales in," said Eric Wolfe, President and CEO.

E & G Franchise Systems, Inc. was founded in1987 by Kevin and Beth Schippers in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The concept developed out of the childhood stories Kevin's father, David Schippers, told of two boys named Erbert & Gerbert Herbert. Today, the tradition continues with each sandwich named after a character Erbert & Gerbert encountered during their travels through space and time. There are 42 Erbert & Gerbert's Subs & Clubs restaurants in the Midwest.
