Mankato-area Restaurateur Named Franchisee Of The Year

MANKATO, MINN (Wednesday, March 22, 2006) - E & G Franchise Systems, Inc. announces Steindl Business Development, Inc., owner of the Mankato and St. Peter Erbert & Gerbert's Subs & Clubs, as their 2005 Franchisee of the Year. This prestigious award given out at the company's annual convention in February is based on demonstrated performance of the franchisee that best embodies a balance of success, leadership, wisdom, honesty, integrity and dedication to the Brand Vision.

Mike Steindl, who resides in Madison Lake, is the owner of Steindl Business Development, Inc. and has received this award a total of five times since opening his first Erbert & Gerbert's restaurant in 1996. In addition, his three stores received "Gold Star" awards for superior operations for excellent food safety and cleanliness, maintenance, quality and customer service.

Steindl has built his business around the values of honesty, integrity, dedication and a high standard of quality products. When revealing the secrets to his success, which includes ten consecutive years of sales growth, Steindl is quick to mention his staff. "I am honored to receive this award but must attribute a great deal of my success to my strong management team," said Steindl. "We work hard every day to give our customers the best experience possible and to actively support our community."

Throughout the franchise community, Steindl is recognized as an exemplary operator. Steindl is especially proud that his leadership has helped fellow franchisees including a former employee who went on to open his own thriving Erbert & Gerbert's. When asked what the future holds, Steindl is enthusiastic about furthering his involvement in the community, especially with youth programs and continuing to build the Erbert & Gerbert's brand. "My company is in its tenth year and I learn something new every year that helps my company compete in the marketplace," said Steindl. E & G Franchise Systems, Inc. was founded in1987 by Kevin and Beth Schippers in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The concept developed out of the childhood stories Kevin's father, David Schippers, told of two boys named Erbert & Gerbert Herbert. Today, the tradition continues with each sandwich named after a character Erbert & Gerbert encountered during their travels through space and time. There are 42 E & G locations in the Midwest with several in development.
