Builders Increase Optimism For Next Year
(Thursday, December 04, 2003) -
A late surge in demand this year has inspired the National Association of Home Builders to boost its original projection of under a million homes to be built in the United States this year to over a million. In October, the association, consisting of 211,000 members, who build over 80% of the homes in this country, predicted 994,000 new homes would be sold in 2004. That month, however, housing starts increased to the highest level since 1985. With these positive developments, the NAHB increased its '04 forecast 4.6% to 1.04 million new homes.
