Dunn Bros Coffee Boasts That It Roasts Its Own

OVERLAND PARK (Thursday, March 16, 2006) - Dunn Bros Coffee roasts its coffee daily.
To emphasize that point, it has put gunnysacks full of beans and bright red coffee roasters right at the entrance of the new retail store in the Red
Bridge Shopping Center.
The franchise operation, at 535 E. 111th St., on the north side of the center by the movie theaters,is the first area location for the Minnesota-based
company. Franchisee Julie Gilchrist, owner of JLG Coffee LLC, also plans to open a
location in the Gateway Plaza, 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, in late spring, and at a new development scheduled for 151st Street and Pflumm Road in Olathe. Another franchisee plans to open a location in Lawrence, as well as in the Kansas City area.
The Dunn Bros Coffee menu includes coffee drinks, pastries, smoothies, teas, soups,
sandwiches, and fresh fruit and garden salads. Espressos include an extra shot of
espresso ¡ª two shots for the small, three for the medium and four for large.
Brothers Ed and Dan Dunn opened the company in 1987 in St. Paul, Minn. The Dunns decided that brewing on the premises would give customers the freshest product
possible. They also roast in small batches and refuse to blend beans in order to give
each coffee a unique flavor.
The company has 62 locations throughout the country, nearly all franchise operations.¡ö
