The Duke Sandwich Company Announces New Franchise Agreement

SIMPSONVILLE (Thursday, March 16, 2006) - The new restaurant is scheduled to open by mid-summer on Fairview Road in Simpsonville. Kim Gooding, a Simpsonville resident, is the new franchise owner. Prior to joining Duke Sandwich, Gooding worked in the manufacturing industry as a quality engineer.

"I had been interested in starting my own business for a long time, but just hadn't found the right opportunity," sad Gooding. "Duke Sandwich offered me a unique concept. That's a characteristic I didn't see in other businesses." Being a Greenville, S.C. native, Gooding has been eating Duke Sandwiches all her life – particularly at wedding and baby showers.

"I really liked the fact that Duke Sandwich was an established, family-owned business," said Gooding. "They really made me feel like I was part of the family."

Once opened, the new restaurant will offer the company's original spread sandwiches, along with a variety of soups, salads and desserts. As with other franchise locations, some new features will be added to the traditional Duke approach, such as the addition of a drive thru window.

"Offering franchise locations has given Duke Sandwich a great opportunity to grow with the Greenville area," said Andrew Smart, president of Duke Sandwich Franchising, Inc. "We are delighted to welcome a new member to the Duke Sandwich family and expand into Simpsonville."

After nearly 90 years in the food service industry, Duke Sandwich Company announced plans to franchise in 2004. The plans became official when the company launched a new division of the company, Duke Sandwich Franchising, Inc. to manage franchising inquiries and provide support services to new stores. The franchising division is currently offering franchise opportunities in four Southeast states: South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
