Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates Advise Travelers To Plan Early

Timely Advice Heralds Special Savings Offer for Those Planning Ahead

(Monday, February 27, 2006) - With leisure travel now reaching its highest level since the start of the new millennium, Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates are advising their customers to avoid sticker shock on the cost of summer vacation by planning early. Along with the advice, the travel powerhouse has today announced a variety of offers available throughout March that will ensure special savings on some of the upcoming season's most popular vacations.

"The days of getting rock-bottom, last-minute bargains on the top vacation destinations are history," noted Roger E. Block, executive vice president of the Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate Division. "In fact, our 2006 Carlson Wagonlit Travel Trends Survey results indicate that consumers are already grasping this reality, with 52.3% of our agents telling us that the advance window for booking travel is actually increasing after years of sliding."

Houston-based Carlson Wagonlit Travel agent Elena Pelsinger agrees. "Major advice – plan early! Airfares are rising, and you need to grab those seats as soon as possible, whether you are traveling independently or with a major tour operator. Demand for European travel is higher than usual, and the airfares are increasing with all the added fuel surcharges and taxes thrown in," Pelsinger explained, adding, "Cruise rates were usually anticipated to decrease as you got closer to the sail date, but that is just not true any longer. In fact, we are finding that what is left is at a higher rate closer to the sail date with balcony cabins and suites selling out first – exactly the opposite of what was true not so many years ago. So if you're a first time cruiser, you need to book early to get the lowest rate on the cabin of their choice."

As an incentive to book early, Block announced that throughout the month of March, Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates are offering savings on a variety of the most popular summer destinations and cruises they sell. Some of the offerings include:
