Franchisee's Newest Phoenix Location Marks Milestone

(Tuesday, April 04, 2006) - Carl's Jr.® invites the Phoenix community to celebrate today's grand opening of a new restaurant located at 2750 W. Thomas Road -- the 50th Arizona restaurant location for Carl's Jr. franchise company MJKL Enterprises, LLC.

MJKL was formed by the grandchildren of Carl's Jr. founder Carl N. Karcher in August 2000 in Phoenix, Ariz. MJKL built its franchise holding from two restaurants in 2001 to 23 in 2003, more than doubling that number within the next three years. Still based in Arizona, MJKL proudly supports the Phoenix Children's Hospital and Veteran's Medical Leadership Council, and was recognized by parent company CKE Restaurants, Inc. in 2003 with the Founders Award, given to recognize the franchise company determined to best exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit, community involvement and very ideals set forth by its founders, Carl and Margaret Karcher.

The restaurant will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. and offers a convenient drive-thru service. The menu features Carl's Jr. signature charbroiled hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, including The Six Dollar Burger, made with 100 percent Angus beef, the cult classic Western Bacon Cheeseburger(TM), and the Super Star(TM). Morning visitors will be treated to the unique lunch-for-breakfast menu item, the Breakfast Burger(TM). Recently, Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Shakes & Malts(TM) were added to the menu.
