Bennigan's Grill & Tavern Enjoys Domestic & International Growth In 2005

(Thursday, December 15, 2005) - Bennigan's Grill and Tavern opened 21 restaurants in 2005, more than double the number of openings in 2004. With 310 locations worldwide, the chain expects to add another 30 locations in 2006 in conjunction with the company's 30th anniversary.

"We've had an incredible year, and we only expect it to get stronger in 2006 as we continue to focus on worldwide growth," said Vince Runco, president of worldwide franchising for Bennigan's.

Among this year's highlights, Bennigan's introduced its first express restaurant and airport location at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Domestically, the company has expanded into new markets with restaurants in Lincoln, Neb., Wake Forest, N.C., and Hot Springs, Ark., among others.

On the international scene, Bennigan's paid tribute to its Irish influence by introducing the first two restaurants in Ireland, bringing the total number of international restaurants to 40. Bennigan's significantly expanded its brand in Korea, adding six locations for a total of 26 restaurants in the country. Openings in India, Bahrain, Cyprus, Greece, El Salvador and Mexico brought Bennigan's classic menu with an Irish flavor to new customers around the world.

"Through new markets, both at home and abroad, Bennigan's has reached a new audience for our brand," Runco said. "And the response has been overwhelming. Not only has it made 2005 a good year, but also it has energized us for the bigger year that awaits. We expect our 30th anniversary to be one of our best years for franchise development, and our guests can expect our visibility to continue to grow."
