Local Bark Busters Owners Offer Free Dog Safety And Training Seminars For Families
Bark Busters, the world's largest, most trusted dog training company, partners with local animal
control and dog shelters to provide dog safety tips for parents and children
(Tuesday, July 26, 2005) -
In the absence of effective training, man's best friend isn't always a cuddly bundle of fur. According to the American Veterinary Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 4.7 million Americans suffer from dog bites each year. The severity of the bites varies, but approximately 800,000 people annually are injured seriously enough to require medical attention, and 12 people die due to mortal wounds. Local Front Range franchise owners, all licensed Bark Busters dog behavioral therapists, announced today that they have teamed up with local partners to provide a free seminar series throughout the metro Denver area to raise awareness of this problem and educate adults and children on ways to reduce the risk of being bitten by strange or familiar dogs. While these numbers are alarming, statistics also show that 61 percent of dog bites occur within pet owners' homes, and 43 percent of all dog bites involve children being bitten by the family dog. Conscientious parents can significantly reduce these high incidence rates simply by learning some basic guidelines that will help their children avoid getting bitten by their own dogs.
"Bark Busters is committed to teaching people how to communicate clearly with their dogs," said Liam Crowe, a Master Dog Behavioral Therapist and Bark Busters' COO, "not only to reduce the risk of dog bites but also to enhance owners' relationships with their dogs."
The free seminars will cover the basics of the dog body language, leadership techniques, training tips, and important safety guidelines for parents and children. The seminars last about an hour and will include ample time for questions. The seminar schedule released today includes the following events:

About 80 percent of Bark Buster clients require only one two-hour home visit from a licensed dog behavioral therapist, if they continue with just 10 to15 minutes a day follow-up exercises for several weeks. All training takes place right in the home where the problems generally occur. Bark Busters' training is the only service of its kind that is guaranteed for the life of the dog.
