Baker Bros Announces Continued Expansion In Texas

(Thursday, February 09, 2006) - Baker Bros American Deli, a fast-casual concept headquartered in Dallas, has executed an Area Development Agreement with Dr. Joe Cheek and David Oster of Independence Franchising of Texas, LP to open 3 Baker Bros American Deli restaurants in the Greater Houston area.

The newest franchise group of Baker Bros is currently searching for restaurant sites and hopes to locate their first great location within the next 60-90 days. The group expects to open a minimum of three stores within thirty-six months.

"Joe and I are pleased to introduce the Baker Bros concept to Houston," said Oster. "We believe the Houston area is perfect for the great taste of Baker Bros food. We love the quality and the fact that every item is prepared fresh-to-order within minutes," adds Cheek.

Founded in 1999 by Ken Reimer and Tom Dahl, two well-respected industry veterans, Baker Bros currently operates eight company stores and one franchised store in Dallas, Texas with an additional 11 franchised stores open or in development in Las Vegas, Nevada, East Texas and Houston. "We are very excited to bring Joe and David on board. We are proud to have them represent the Baker Bros brand in the Houston market," said Ken Reimer, CEO. Not to be confused with typical sandwich chains, Baker Bros American Deli (www.bakerbrosdeli.com) is an upscale, fast-casual deli featuring Specialty Sandwiches, Specialty Salads, Gourmet Pizzas and more. All entrees are prepared fresh to order using the freshest available breads, ingredients and produce. The restaurants typically operate in high visibility strip centers and occupy 2500-3500 SF with seating for 120-160.
