Camp Bow Wow Enters Canada

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA (Friday, March 31, 2006) - Camp Bow Wow International Inc., an owner of daycare centers for dogs, now truly is international.

The company, based in Denver, sold its first non-American franchise March 31 to a Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, entrepreneur. Camp Bow Wow franchise start-up costs range from $200,000 to $355,000, including franchise fee, equipment, training and advertising funds.

Club Bow Wow Canada licenses the Colorado company's centers in that country.

"This is an important milestone for our company, and a great addition to the dog community in Canada," Heidi Flammang, Club Bow Wow's founder and CEO, said in a statement.

The company hopes to sign up franchisees in other countries, as well, according to Flammang.

Club Bow Wow has sold 128 franchises so far. It expects to open "many more stores" nationwide this year.

It has 10 locations along the Front Range, including Denver-area markets such as Aurora, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver and Northglenn. Castle Rock, Colorado Springs and Monument also have Club Bow Wows.

Flammang and her husband, Bion, started planning Club Bow Wow in the mid-1990s, but Bion Flammang died in a plane crash before the business opened its first "camp" in 2000. The company sold its first franchise in Boulder three years later.
