The Melting Pot Celebrates 100th Location

PASADENA, CALIF (Tuesday, February 14, 2006) - The Melting Pot Restaurants Inc., the nation's largest fondue restaurant franchise, held its 100th Location Celebration in Pasadena, Calif. last Monday, February 6th to commemorate the opening of its 100th restaurant. During the event, one lucky fondue fan won the grand prize trip for two to Switzerland - the birthplace of fondue. The Melting Pot of Pasadena opened on December 15th, 2005 at 88 W. Colorado Blvd. to become The Melting Pot's 100th restaurant.

"This celebration is the culmination of three decades of hard work by thousands of dedicated Melting Pot employees. It's an occasion that we're excited to celebrate with all of our previous, current and future guests, vendors and franchise partners," said Robert Johnston, president and COO of The Melting Pot Restaurants. The first Melting Pot opened in Maitland, Fla., just outside of Orlando, in 1975 and remains open at its original address on East Horatio Avenue. The early menu consisted of just three items: Swiss cheese fondue, beef fondue and a chocolate fondue dessert. Today, guests can enjoy a wide variety of creamy cheeses and signature entrées including duck, blackened chicken breast, lobster, filet mignon, shrimp and more. The current menu also offers nine decadent chocolate fondue desserts.

Franchising efforts began in 1984 when brothers Michael, Mark and Robert Johnston purchased all rights to The Melting Pot brand and established The Melting Pot Restaurants Inc. franchise company.
