Saladworks Franchise Update

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA (Thursday, March 23, 2006) - We would like to take this opportunity to update you on the impressive growth of Saladworks, the nation's leading salad franchise. Saladworks sets itself apart from other franchise companies with its founder and CEO John Scardapane and his talented executive team comprised of industry veterans.

In 2005, Saladworks experienced its biggest increase by opening 20 new locations, which makes a grand total of 75 operations, up from 26 in 2001. Scardapane, a classically trained chef with extensive food industry experience, also introduced a new line of 12 gourmet soups which led the company to a 400% increase soup sales since last December.

As the originator of the fresh tossed-to-order salad concept, Scardapane and his management team have implemented highly successful strategic plans that have enabled Saladworks to grow at an average rate of 40% per year since 2001. Many of the franchisees have grown with the company from single to multi-unit operators. Plans for 2006 include 20 more new locations.

Much of this success can be attributed to Scardapane's loyalty to the company, which he founded in 1986 outside of
Philadelphia. Over the years he witnessed similar franchise companies execute poorly planned expansion strategies that resulted in failure. Rather than erecting a hollow structure atop a shaky base as other companies that are driven by investors and shareholders have done, the Saladworks team makes sure that the privately owned company grows at a sustainable pace.

Recently, Saladworks' home office implemented a system-wide operations performance review program that enables Saladworks to identify and improve systems that are not performing adequately and to establish benchmarks. For the needs of franchisees, putting each location under the microscope enables management to allocate its resources efficiently and lay a solid foundation of tools and programs to help franchisees manage their businesses. Through open sharing of the performance review data, Saladworks has created a company-wide sense of unity and a healthy corporate culture.

On April 5, at their annual convention, which will be held this year at The Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City , the team will unveil new technology that continues to establish Saladworks as the industry leader. One of the new computer programs will enable operators to remotely oversee their operations by using cameras connected to registers at each location. Franchisees will be able to receive constantly updated information and check in on each of their locations at any time of day or night. Other new items that will be introduced will include online training manuals, videos and chat rooms for franchisees to discuss their businesses.

Saladworks' rapid growth comes at a time when more and more Americans are abandoning fad diets in favor of adopting more balanced approaches to healthy lifestyles. The broad appeal of the Saladworks core menu, which features more than 12 salad varieties, makes the concept attractive to consumers and investors alike. By giving customers the freshest and finest ingredients, which are expertly prepared in front of them by an always-accommodating staff, Saladworks has become the leading alternative to fast food chains.
