Shondi Mulkey Named Kinderdance Franchisee Of The Month

NEW ORLEANS (Friday, February 24, 2006) - Hurricane Katrina was barreling down on New Orleans when our Kinderdance franchisee, Shondi Mulkey, was conducting a free dance day demonstration that morning. She knew the storm was churning but did not want to disappoint the students and staff at the child care center. After the demonstration Shondi received a call from her husband, who was out of town, to take their four children, ages 2-5 (three of which are triplets) and drive to Dallas where they met up with her mother and husband.

Shondi has been a Kinderdance® franchisee for the past six years and teaches over 300 students a month in local child care centers in the greater New Orleans area. With the arrival of Katrina her business was shut down for three months but Shondi was determined to start up in the town she loved and grew up in. She wanted to get back to help pull things together by bringing normalcy to her family, her students, and her community. To date, three centers were severely damaged and unable to open back up for several months but three more are active. However, enrollment is still low since many people have no place to live. Thanks to determined people of faith like Shondi Mulkey and her family, the city and its people will come back slowly, but stronger.

Shondi's determination and persistence will bring her back to her previous level of business service and eventually surpass her prior number of students. Kinderdance®, established in 1979, is a nationally recognized dance, gymnastics and fitness program for pre-school children. 110 franchisees currently teach over 12,000 children weekly at over 600 various locations in 37 states and 3 countries. Classes are held on site in child care centers, churches, recreation centers, hospitals, military bases, bowling alleys, fitness centers and many other locations that have space that can be utilized as an additional profit center.
