Tradebank Arrives In Woodstock

WOODSTOCK, ON (Monday, June 06, 2005) - The nation's largest retail barter company has arrived in Woodstock, giving local businesses an unprecedented opportunity to improve cash flow, attract new customers and save cash.

Tradebank Canada's London Regional Office this week will open a sub-office in Woodstock at 30 Metcalf Street. Business partners Fred Spina and Rod Smith are heading up the Woodstock venture, with a view to building on the success of Tradebank London. "We're excited to welcome Fred and Rod to the Tradebank team," says Brian Crann, regional co-director of Tradebank London with Bill Bradley. "We know they'll do a great job in building on the growth potential of this area."

Spina, of Woodstock, and Smith, of London, are both seasoned businessmen. Spina is experienced in insurance, banking and other industries, and has run large charity fundraisers. Smith also has business experience on many fronts—among them the mortgage industry, in which he's been active for three decades.

Tradebank London has about 300 members, and expectations are for Woodstock's membership to take off rapidly as the awareness of trade grows among local businesses. Woodstock members to date include Kelsey's Restaurant; the Woodstock Meadows Golf Club; the Magnolia Gallery; and Brian and Doris Riddle, who run a wig and hair extensions business.

In the Tradebank system, business owners can offer goods and services in exchange for trade dollars. They can then spend their trade dollars on a wide range of goods and services available within the Tradebank network.

"Tradebank is a great opportunity for businesses of all kinds, and we welcome anyone interested to come check us out," says Smith. "Tradebank is definitely win-win for everyone involved."

Spina, known as "Mr. Woodstock," agrees. "Tradebank allows businesses to leverage their surplus goods and services to maximum advantage," he says. "We're looking forward to helping local businesses use trade to achieve and exceed their goals."

John Porter, president of Tradebank Canada, says he's impressed with the growth of Tradebank London from 200 to 300 clients in less than six months. "Tradebank London has been growing rapidly and we expect Woodstock to be a big success as well."
