First Licensed Krystal Restaurant to Open Under Agreement with Sodexho USA
BARNESVILLE, GEORGIA (Wednesday, October 15, 2003) -
Krystal, the oldest fast food restaurant chain in the Southeast, has opened its first on-campus restaurant at Gordon College located in Barnesville, Ga. The restaurant is located at the student center on the college campus. This is the first licensed Krystal restaurant to open under the companys agreement with Sodexho USA, the leading provider of food and facilities management in North America.
Over the past 70 years, Krystal has become an integral part of the college experience for students throughout the Southeast, said Fred Exum, chief executive officer, The Krystal Company. The price, portability and fun that customers associate with our brand makes Krystal a perfect fit for a college campus. We expect the Krystal restaurant to become a popular place on campus in a short time.
Krystal signed an agreement with Sodexho USA in January 2003 to open licensed locations in strategically identified Sodexho accounts throughout the Southeast U.S. In addition to this and other campus locations, Sodexho USA is actively looking to roll out Krystal restaurants within its corporate and health care services divisions.
We look forward to bringing the one-of-a-kind menu items and unique taste of Krystal to the students, faculty and staff at Gordon College, said Steven Brush, director of national brands for Sodexho. With the closest Krystal 20 miles away from the school, we are excited about giving the students at Gordon College immediate access to that Krystal taste they crave.
Located approximately 55 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles northwest of Macon, Ga., Gordon College is a two-year, residential college in the University System of Georgia with approximately 3,400 enrolled students.
