Intercontinental Hotels Group Announces Latest Addition To Its Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Portfolio In The Northeastern U.s.
First Crowne Plaza hotel for Southbury, Conn

InterContinental Hotels Group announced today the opening of its latest Crowne Plaza hotel in Southbury, Conn.
There are now four Crowne Plaza hotels with more than 900 guestrooms in the state of Connecticut with the addition of the Crowne Plaza Southbury. The InterContinental Hotels Group portfolio in Connecticut is represented by four of its brands, including the upscale, full service, limited service, and midscale extended stay segments with 19 hotels and nearly 3,000 rooms.
The Crowne Plaza Southbury is conveniently located off I-84 between Hartford and Danbury and is just minutes from a variety of restaurants, shops and the Antique Capital of Connecticut. The Palace Theater, also nearby, is just one of the many cultural centers in the area. Major corporations such as Chemtura, IBM, Timex, Management Resouses, Charter Communications, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Oxford Airport have offices in the surrounding area.
By the end of 2006, the 197-room hotel will undergo a $2 million renovation and will include updated room décor, upgrades to the lobby, restaurant, pool area, fitness center and building exterior.
Guest room amenities at the property include: air conditioning, voice mail, coffee maker, hair dryer, make-up mirror, data ports, iron and ironing board. Nine guestrooms are suites. The Crowne Plaza Southbury also offers complimentary high-speed Internet access, a 24-hour reception desk, express check-out, indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, fitness center, business center, complimentary guest parking and complimentary shuttle service within five miles of the hotel. The hotels Arrowhead Restaurant, offers American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the Lobby Lounge offers light fare and cocktails.
