Dairy Queen® Celebrates The Holidays With A Very Merry Twist

The popular Merry Mint Chip Blizzard® is featured in December

MINNEAPOLIS (Wednesday, November 30, 2005) - Dairy Queen® celebrates the holiday season with a very merry twist on a Blizzard® favorite, offering the Merry Mint Chip Blizzard as December’s featured Blizzard of the Month.

The Merry Mint Chip Blizzard, which was first introduced during the holidays last year, will be available at all Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill® restaurants nationwide beginning December 1. This colorful Blizzard blends popular M&M’s® Candies with crème de menthe and creamy DQ® soft serve to create a holiday-themed treat.

Dairy Queen, the international retail treat-category leader, began blending simple combinations of candies, cookies and nuts with DQ soft serve 20 years ago to create the signature Blizzard Frozen Treat. Since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Strawberry CheeseQuake®, Brownie Batter, Pumpkin Pie, Cotton Candy and Double Fudge Cookie Dough have delighted Dairy Queen fans as featured Blizzards of the Month, a program that began in 2003.

M&M’s, a key ingredient in the Merry Mint Chip Blizzard, date back to the 1930s when Forrest Mars - already famous for creating Milky Way® and Snickers®, decided to give chocolate a protective candy coating so it wouldn’t melt. The average retail price of the Merry Mint Chip Blizzard is $2.39 for the 12 oz., $2.79 for the 16 oz., and $3.19 for the 21 oz.
