Papa Murphy's Returns To Its Roots With Fremont, Ohio Opening

VANCOUVER, WASH (Monday, May 09, 2005) - Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza, the world’s largest and fastest growing take-and-bake pizza chain, announces both its first opening in Fremont, Ohio, and significant statewide growth plans. The spirit behind Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza comes from Ohio, as CEO and Chairman Terry Collins grew up in Fremont along with his brothers, Senior Regional VP Matt Collins and franchise owner Casey Collins. This year, major markets throughout the state have been identified as key growth areas for 15 new chain locations.

“There are more than 850 Papa Murphy’s locations in 28 states, and it is so meaningful to me that we’ve finally found the right time and place to join the Fremont community and really expand throughout Ohio,” said Terry. “Fremont is where the ideas and relationships began that have led Papa Murphy’s to the company it is today, and we owe a lot of our success to these roots.”

Fremont’s first Papa Murphy’s will open inside Wal-Mart at 2052 State Route 53 on April 20. The Collins family will gather in Fremont for a grand opening celebration scheduled for May 13, including Terry’s parents, Fremont residents Dorothy and Dale Collins. Local radio station WFRO-FM 99.1 will broadcast live from the store from 1-4 p.m. during the festivities. In addition to the three Collins brothers, others in the family are also involved in the business. Terry’s eldest son, Doug Collins (also born in Fremont!), is VP of Product Research and Development. Two other family members are managers of franchise sales: Terry’s cousin, Mike Wing, who is a Fremont resident, and Matt’s brother-in-law, Jim Werling, who was also raised in Fremont.

The franchise owners of the new location are Mike and Lori Koebel of Fremont. “When we learned that Papa Murphy’s was expanding in Ohio, we were immediately interested,” said Lori. “We’ve been impressed with the concept for a long time – it’s the freshest pizza you’ll ever get, and that’s really what reeled us in. The training program offered by the corporate headquarters has been wonderful; with the support they’re giving us, we know we’ll be able to give the residents of Fremont a great taste of what Papa Murphy’s is all about.”

As an extra incentive, several special offers are being featured at the Fremont location from May 7 through May 15. No coupon is required for any of them. They are: $4.99 Family Size Pepperoni Pizza (16”), $4.99 large one-topping pizza, $5.99 large Gourmet Chicken Garlic Pizza, $8.99 Family Size Murphy’s Combination Pizza.

Fremont is near Toledo, Ohio, where there is currently one Papa Murphy’s location and several others planned. On the same day as the Fremont opening, the nearby town of Wauseon will also get a new Papa Murphy’s store. Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton already have locations, for a current total of 12 statewide. Fifteen new stores are planned for Ohio in 2005; these will come to Sylvania, Springboro, Beavercreek, Columbus, Celina, Kenton and Cincinnati.
