Wrpc Is Alliance Area Chamber Of Commerce 2004 Small Business Of The Year

ALLIANCE, OH (Tuesday, May 11, 2004) - The Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce honored We’re Rolling Pretzel Company as Small Business of the Year for 2004 at its recent Business Alliance Awards held March 12, 2004. The award goes to a local business with twenty of fewer employees that demonstrates positive growth, high standards, and a commitment to community involvement.

“It is through the employees, franchisees, vendors, and friends of We’re Rolling Pretzel Company that we have been able to achieve the success that has lead to this honor,” states Kevin Krabill, President and Founder of the company. “Through a combined effort, we have been able to create a strong system that we feel is poised for even more growth.” Since January 2002, the company has more than quadrupled in size, growing from 8 locations to 38 locations open or under contract. In recognition of this growth, We’re Rolling Pretzel Company was named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 500 franchises in January and Franchise Times Fast 55 in March. The company has targeted 100 stores open or under contract as its goal for 2004.

The award also honors We’re Rolling Pretzel Company for its community involvement. For the past six years, the company has sold pretzels at Alliance High School’s Top Gun Wrestling Tournament and donated all proceeds to the school’s athletic department. In 2003, the company was a fireworks co-sponsor for the Alliance Fourth of July celebration, a music co-sponsor during the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival, and a youth baseball team sponsor. In addition, each We’re Rolling Pretzel Company franchise location is required to spend at least 1% of sales in the local community. “It’s a very simply strategy,” explains Jen Safkow, Director of Operations for the franchise chain. “The customers who allow our business to operate and grow are from the local community. It only makes sense that we recognize those customers through our involvement and support of community events and efforts.”
