Clients Of The Old Brewery Mission Will Have Their Cup Of Coffee From Now On Thanks To Van Houtte

Van Houtte comes to the aid of this threatened Montreal organization by donating its coffee

MONTREAL (Thursday, October 13, 2005) - Van Houtte Inc. (TSX: VH.SV), one of the leading gourmet coffee companies in North America, is coming to the aid of the Old Brewery Mission in Montreal.

The company will offer this 100-year-old organization the equivalent of 184,000 cups of coffee per year.

“Having learned of the difficulties that the Old Brewery Mission was facing after its recent announcement that it would be obliged to sell its coffee to its clients from now on, we immediately took action.

We felt that this situation was simply unacceptable. We were especially concerned since the Mission is in Montreal, where Van Houtte’s headquarters are located,” explained Joseph Audi, Marketing Director of Van Houtte Inc.

“We already support Sun Youth Organization and Moisson Montreal, so it was quite natural that we would come to the aid of another organization that is of great value to our community,” he added.

“The Old Brewery Mission is delighted about Van Houtte’s involvement. Providing good hot coffee is essential for an organization like ours, especially during the long winter months.

Moreover, Van Houtte generously offered its contribution without a request on our part, which is a rare event for a non-profit organization!” said the enthusiastic James Hughes, General Manager of the Old Brewery Mission.

Delivery of coffee to the Mission will begin at the end of October. Van Houtte’s donation will help more than 5,000 homeless people who frequent the establishment each year.
