Spring-green Franchise Owner Rod Reining Earns National Recognition... Again!
LACEY, WA (Sunday, December 01, 2002) -
Spring-Green franchise owners Rod and Stevie Reining are the winners of PLCAA's Community Service Award for 2002. Rod and Stevie devote a good deal of time to several community service projects and organizations in the Lacey, WA area. This a great honor for Rod and Stevie as well as for the entire Spring-Green franchise system. It is also a great follow-up to the Environmental Improvement Award that Rod won in 2001. Here are listings of the Community Service Projects Rod and Stevie are involved in:
Rod provided an opportunity for young people in his area to experience working at a lawn care company for a day and provided insight into the day-to-day activities through the Windows on the World of Work program. An overview of the office computer operations, posting of accounts, entering of new estimates, actually doing estimates in the field, seeing how the trucks are loaded and prepared for a days activity, and even doing actual work like core cultivation or spreading lime are completed by the students under proper supervision.
The local employees of Spring-Green have participated in the American Diabetes Association Walk for the last three years. They form a team of walkers and solicit donations for the walk. They collected over $500 in donations this year.
Dictionary Project: Spring-Green provides financial support and helps to coordinate the distribution of several hundred dictionaries to fourth grade classes to assist students studying for the Washington Assessment of Student Learning test.
Service Donations: The Company also provides free lawn care applications to use as auction items for the Family Support Center and The Olympia High School senior trip fundraising auctions.
The Special Olympics has been Spring-Green's "Charity of Choice" for the last 8 years.
Rod and Stevie know that it is important to give back to the community where they work and reside. Besides the above, Rod is a member of the Lacey Rotary, is the Facilities Manager for the Rotary's annual fundraiser and serves on the Scholarship Committee. He served as Membership Chairman for the past two years and was just confirmed as President-elect for 2003 to 2004. Stevie is a member of Altrusa International, a professional women's service organization. She served the past two years as Treasurer and is currently on the Finance and Community Service Committees. Both Rod and Stevie are active bell ringers for the Salvation Army at Christmas and collect food for the Thurston County Food Bank. Stevie is on the Board for St. Peter's Hospital Sunshine House and she works one day a week as a volunteer tutor for the Washington Reading Corp at the Meadows Elementary School.
Spring-Green is a member of the Lacey Chamber of Commerce, where Rod has served on the Ambassadors Committee. Renee Welch, Spring-Green's Office Manager (and a Reining daughter), is also an active Chamber member and serves on both the Educational Committee and Ambassadors Committee.
These activities and more demonstrate the Reinings' dedication to their community and to helping others. We congratulate Rod and Stevie, as well as their Spring-Green team on winning this award!
