Motophoto Expands Digital Imaging Services

DAYTON, OHIO (Tuesday, October 05, 1999) - MotoPhoto(SM) stores are now putting customers' photos and images on CD-ROMs and floppy disks and uploading them to the Internet. This is a further extension of the broad technology strategy of Moto Photo, Inc. (Nasdaq:MOTO), which includes Advanced Photo System(TM) processing, Internet marketing, and the offering of instant reprints and enlargements with digital enhancement capabilities.
"By the end of next year, we believe that over 200 of our stores will offer these services on site through the Digital Photo Factory, and other stores will be providing the service through off-site providers," said Frank Montano, President and COO. "We will have 60 stores with on-site capability by the end of the fourth quarter this year," Montano continued.

"As the world becomes increasingly aware of the capabilities of computers and the Internet, we know that it is important to offer our very discriminating customers these new capabilities," said Greg Woryk, Director of Marketing Communications. "We are seeing explosive growth in this category and look forward to that continuing. It is important for our stores, both for strategic and economic reasons, to be in this business."

Customers who bring their 35mm or APS film to MotoPhoto(SM) can, along with their prints, order a CD-ROM, floppy disk, or an upload to the Internet. For Internet uploads the images are posted on a secure Internet site. A unique identification number will be e-mailed to the customer. When the customer, or anybody with whom the customer shares the identification number such as friends and family, logs onto http://www.motophoto.myphotosnow.com, they can view the images, print the images, or place them in an electronic album.

CD-ROMs and floppy disks include both Mac and PC-compatible viewer software, making it simple and easy to view the photos. The CDs also include trial versions of software that can be ordered online.

"This is truly exciting for families and their friends that live some distance from each other. Imagine sharing photos of your newborn child or recent birthday party or any event almost instantly across town or across the country," said Woryk.

Moto Photo, Inc. is a Dayton, Ohio-based franchisor and operator of 415 one hour photofinishing labs and portrait studios in the U.S. and Canada, including 45 affiliate stores in Norway.
