Motophoto Conducts Charity Drive For The American Red Cross

DAYTON, OHIO (Tuesday, October 30, 2001) - MotoPhoto(R) stores across the country will join in a nationwide effort to raise donations for the American Red Cross.

The funds will be used to assist in the Red Cross relief efforts following the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Red Cross disaster relief services began immediately after the terrorist attacks and have been provided by more than 35,000 relief workers so far. Aviation Incident Response teams were deployed right away to each crash site and at the arrival and departure airports for each plane that was hijacked. To date, the Red Cross has provided safe refuge for more than 4,000 people in 76 shelters; served more than 7 million meals and snacks to survivors, emergency personnel and stranded travelers; and helped more than 100,000 people by providing crisis, grief and spiritual counseling.

The concept of the charity drive is to sell postcards of the "Human Freedom Flag" in MotoPhoto stores. The cards will be sold for a minimum donation of $1.00 each with 100% of all donations benefiting the Red Cross. A personal message of support can be written on the cards to either rescue workers or members of the Armed Forces. MotoPhoto will coordinate with the Red Cross to have the cards forwarded appropriately. Customers can also purchase additional cards to send to their friends and families.

The "Human Freedom Flag" is a photo taken by MotoPhoto franchisee Nancy DeMille in Tucson, Arizona. At Electric Park in Tucson, over 15,000 people gathered to stand in formation and make this spectacular "Human Freedom Flag." A picture of the flag has been featured in Sports Illustrated Magazine and on the Today Show, as well as on CNN and MSNBC.

"The American Red Cross has been working around the clock to ensure that those affected by the recent tragedies have comfort and care," said Skip Seitz, senior vice president, American Red Cross. "We are grateful that so many Americans and corporations, including MotoPhoto, have demonstrated a willingness to help the Red Cross provide immediate and long-term relief to everyone who has been touched by these catastrophic events."
