Saladworks Appoints James Neilland Director Of Real Estate

CONSHOHOCKEN, PENNSYLVANIA (Tuesday, January 03, 2006) - Saladworks, the nation’s leading healthy alternative to fast food and the originator of the fresh tossed to order salad concept, has appointed James Neilland as Director of Real Estate. Neilland, who brings more than 20 years of retail real estate development and property management and administration experience to Saladworks, will oversee strategic planning and development initiatives for the company through site selection, lease analysis and negotiation and project management related to new franchise locations.

“In order for us to grow, we need a guy like Jim onboard,” says John Scardapane founder of Saladworks. “I am confident that with his experience and know-how we can bring Saladworks to the next level.”

For Saladworks, Neilland will lead the charge to expand the company in its existing markets such as NJ, PA, DE, MD and FL and its anticipated further expansion into Connecticut, Virginia and a variety of non-traditional venues such as airports and other major transportation facilities.

Prior to Saladworks, Neilland supervised the real estate components of Rita’s Water Ice, Inc.’s rapid growth from just 70 units to more than 200 in less than four years. As Director of Management at Brahin Properties, Inc., Neilland was part of a team that managed and redeveloped 17 east coast strip shopping centers, personally leased more than 300,000 square feet from the company’s strip center portfolio and assisted in developing a 340,000 square foot shopping center. Before that he served as Director of Property Development for Laser Lube, Inc., where he helped secure and open 32 leased locations in one year. Neilland also worked with Hillary’s Gourmet Ice Cream, where he assisted franchisees with site selection. Neilland currently resides in Vorhees with his wife Sharel and their daughter Meredith.

“I joined Saladworks because they have a product that I truly believe in,” Neilland says. “When I was based in Center City Philadelphia, I can honestly say that three out of five days week, I ate at a nearby Saladworks. It’s a great concept, which I believe is poised for tremendous growth.”

Since its inception, Saladworks has emerged as a leader in the quick-casual food arena, by offering a tasty, yet healthy alternative to the pre-fab, vacuum packed and flavor deprived food found at most fast food chains. By giving customers the freshest and finest ingredients, which are expertly prepared in front of them by an always-accommodating staff, Saladworks has developed a proven successful concept.

The company, which has grown at an average rate of 40 percent per year for the past three years, has experienced its largest expansion to date by opening more than 18 new locations in 2005. Saladworks, a 20-year-old pioneer concept in the rapidly growing salad category, is taking a ‘fresh’ approach to franchising that will put more than 250 locations on the map by 2010.
