Liberty Fitness Partners With Polar. To Launch The Polar Bodyage System

Becomes Nation’s First Women’s 30-Minute Fitness Chain to Offer Age Assessment

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA (Thursday, June 02, 2005) - Liberty Fitness, a progressive and rapidly growing women’s fitness chain dedicated to providing its members quality products and services in fitness, nutrition and wellness, announced today that it has built an exclusive partnership with Polar, the world's leading manufacturer of sports instruments and heart rate monitoring, registering and evaluation equipment.

The partnership between Liberty Fitness and Polar provides Polar’s BodyAge System to members of Liberty Fitness’ 61 locations nationwide. Liberty Fitness will be the only franchise of its kind with an integrated health management system that includes everything needed to perform a complete fitness assessment, giving users a personalized health and fitness portfolio. Liberty Fitness staff utilizes this information to help women develop a customized exercise and nutrition program.

“The unique relationship between Polar and Liberty Fitness, coupled with the other innovations and services offered to members will put Liberty Fitness a step ahead of the competition, and make them the most valuable service available in the women’s 30-minute fitness market,” said Linda Burzynski, CEO of Liberty Fitness. “The BodyAge System is yet another example of Liberty Fitness’ user-friendly, yet scientific approach to fitness and weight loss. It demonstrates Liberty Fitness’ ongoing commitment and willingness to rise above industry expectations to help members attain their fitness and weight loss goals.”

The BodyAge assessment takes into account a number of health and fitness markers including a member’s strength, flexibility, percentage of body fat, nutrition, cardiovascular fitness and more to calculate the fitness of their body.

“The notoriety of Liberty Fitness and the Polar BodyAgeTM System make this unique relationship work.” said Philippe Duleyrie, president of Polar Electro Inc.. “The Polar BodyAge system is more than a fitness assessment; it’s a whole new way of showing members how healthy they can be. It offers an exclusive health assessment developed to quickly and simply provide health club members with a baseline measurement of their overall fitness level. The BodyAge System will be a perfect fit in Liberty Fitness clubs around the nation.”

Polar, founded in 1977, is the leading brand and the true partner in improving health and well-being through the understanding of human physiology, performance and environment and providing measuring devices for this combination. Moreover, Polar is the world's leading manufacturer of sports instruments and heart rate monitoring, registering and evaluation equipment.

“Having the BodyAge System in our clubs gives Liberty Fitness a huge jump on the competition, as it offers a comprehensive system that will ultimately help women become healthier,” said Richard Cotton, Chief Exercise Physiologist at MyExercisePlan.com and Liberty Fitness. “It provides women with an assessment that will inspire them to get healthier. No one wants to have an actual age of 35 with a body age of 45. The Polar BodyAge System will offer our members an exclusive goal orientated system to help them get healthy.”

Liberty Fitness will also offer women the use of Polar’s F4 heart rate monitor watch as another tool to help meet fitness goals. The F4 is the first women's specific unit from Polar, combining all the necessary heart rate features with a new, slim design. The F4 includes the popular Zone Pointer feature that helps keep users in their target zone, and OwnCal to track the calories burned during exercise.

“All of the new additions to the Liberty Fitness clubs are all geared toward helping women maximize their health and exercise options,” said Liberty Harper, founder of Liberty Fitness. “Having the new Polar fitness tools in our gyms will help take women’s fitness to an entirely new level.”
