New Hilton Houston-post Oak Reopens After Multi-million Dollar Modern Makeover; Former Doubletree Property Has Been Renovated, Rebranded As A Hilton
HOUSTON (Wednesday, March 09, 2005) -
Hilton Hotels Corporation (NYSE:HLT) has announced that the Doubletree(R) Hotel Houston-Post Oak, located in the heart of the Uptown Houston business district, has been renovated and renamed the Hilton Houston-Post Oak after the completion of a $14 million hotel-wide effort to modernize the property.
This is part of a six-hotel renovation project by Slohat Hotels L.P., a joint venture of affiliates of USAA Real Estate Co. and Hilton Hotels Corporation. Other hotels in this enhancement project include the Doubletree Hotel Houston-Allen Center, Doubletree Hotel Overland Park-Corporate Woods in suburban Kansas City, the Doubletree Hotel Anaheim/Orange County in California, the Doubletree Hotel - Downtown Tulsa and the Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center St. Louis. The hotels are managed by DT Management, Inc., an affiliate of Hilton Hotels Corporation.
"After an extensive renovation that has reinvigorated the property and rebranded it as a Hilton, we think the new Hilton Houston-Post Oak will become the ideal gathering place for visitors to the area and for the local community," said John Binick, the hotel's general manager. "And while the hotel's look and feel may have changed, the faces who work here haven't. The same gracious, attentive staff is on-hand to continue the hotel's tradition of fine service to the Houston community."
The hotel has more than 30,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and 448 guestrooms including several one bedroom suites, two bedroom suites, junior suites and a 3,000 sq. ft. presidential suite. All rooms have balconies with views of Houston's impressive skyline.
The new atmosphere at the new Hilton Houston-Post Oak reflects a more contemporary style that mirrors the original character of the I.M. Pei-designed hotel. The atrium lobby has been transformed with new seating groups, a new front desk, the addition of a custom designed 850-square-foot area rug, a ring chandelier that hangs nearly seven stories, and a significant collection of contemporary art pieces.
Guest rooms have been completely redesigned to take on a more contemporary feel with the inclusion of sleek, new mahogany furnishings; ergonomic, leather desk chairs; updated bathrooms and a vibrant blue and yellow color scheme. Guestroom corridors will be brightened with new lighting, textured wall treatments and art that is both modern and reflective of Houston. The major improvements to the hotel are rounded out by a refurbishment of the existing fitness center, the addition of a new 14th-floor executive lounge, and wireless high speed internet access in all rooms.
Travelers staying at this hotel have the opportunity to participate in the Hilton HHonors(R) guest reward program, allowing guests to earn both hotel points and airline miles for the same stay at more than 2,700 hotels worldwide.
