International Eldercare Leader Celebrates 10 Years By Focusing On Future Expansion

OMAHA, NEBRASKA (Thursday, June 17, 2004) - Home Instead Senior Care, the world’s largest provider of non-medical home care and companionship for the elderly, is celebrating 10 years in business by focusing on future expansion at home and abroad.

When Omaha natives Paul and Lori Hogan founded Home Instead Senior Care in 1994, the non-medical eldercare business was virtually an untapped market. The company now has more than 460 franchises in the U.S. and Canada , and operations in Japan and Western Europe as well. In the past 10 years, Home Instead Senior Care has grown from customer-level revenues of $68,000 in 1994 to a projected $253 million this year, making the company the largest non-medical eldercare provider in the world. Last year, Home Instead Senior Care was listed by Inc. magazine as one of America ’s 500 fastest-growing private companies.

“Our goal of $1 billion in customer-level revenues by 2015 is a reflection of our committed Omaha staff and franchise owners around the world to help a growing international elderly population age gracefully and independently,” said Founder and President Paul Hogan. Home Instead Senior Care’s more than 29,000 CAREGivers provide the elderly a variety of non-medical home care and companionship services including meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands and shopping.

“We project to have more than 1,300 offices up and running by 2015 in 10 countries around the world,” Hogan said. “Our future focus will include adding offices throughout Europe , Asia and the Pacific Rim .” The company expanded into Japan in 2000, into Canada in 2001 and into Portugal last year.

While the company expands internationally, growth also is occurring in Omaha , site of the company’s corporate headquarters. On June 1, the 10-year anniversary of the company, the 60 Home Instead Senior Care Omaha corporate staff – decked out in red anniversary shirts – inked their names into a building beam at the site of the company’s new 36,000-square-foot complex, scheduled to be completed in early 2005.

“This new home office facility will help position us for further expansion throughout the U.S. and internationally as well,” Hogan said. “We’re also thrilled to be a part of Omaha ’s growing business community, where our roots were planted on June 1, 1994 ,” he added.

Earlier this spring, nearly 90 percent of Home Instead Senior Care’s franchise owners attended the company’s annual convention in Omaha , which commemorated the eldercare leader’s phenomenal growth over the past decade. As part of The Best is Yet to Come celebration, custom-designed displays featured individual 8 by 10 photos of every franchise owner (460 in all), as well as historical presentations showing the impact of the company, both in Omaha and around the world.
