Noticeable Boost In Business After Premiere On Popular Interior Design Series
LAKEWOOD, CO. (Thursday, September 02, 2004) -
Globally franchised Handyman Matters, the premiere home repair and improvement business that provided all of the carpentry and building work for select episodes of HGTVs Designer Finals, announced today that the company has seen a remarkable increase in business after the shows premiere, Saturday, Aug. 14. The show offers soon-to-be interior design graduates real world experience as they reinvent a room for some lucky family.
"Working with Designer Finals has been fantastic, said Andy Bell, president of Handyman Matters. Not only do both student and audience really learn about the details of home renovation, they realize they dont need a huge construction company to get the job done.
The season premiered with a Denver-based episode where the student and Handyman Matters create a stunning new kitchen. So far this year, Handyman Matters has been featured in six episodes in both Denver and Chicago. The company anticipates more shows to come in the Chicago and Dallas markets.
Handyman Matters was featured in nearly 20 episodes that were taped last year, which have been airing as "teasers" on HGTV in the recent weeks. Those episodes also will be shown during the series' regular time slot, Saturday at 7:00 p.m. MST.
"The premiere not only showcased the designers talent, but also emphasized the great work Handyman Matters is capable of," said Mark Douglass, vice-president of operations and former handyman for Handyman Matters. "Our team provided all of the cabinetry, shelving, crown molding and Wainscoting for the new kitchen-- on-time and under-budget"
While not every episode will feature Handyman Matters as their building providers--to-date only in the Denver and Chicago markets--as the company opens more units in larger cities, it is their hope to become "Designer Finals" builder of choice. For more information visit www.handymanmatters.com.
About Handyman Matters:
It used to be common for folks to know their own personal handyman. Most everybody had a jack-of-all-trades they could call upon to repair the everyday damage our homes sustain. However, in recent years, the home repair realm has drastically expanded and become more specialized. Leaky faucet? For that, call a plumber. Need new cabinets? Youd need to call a carpenter. Gone are the days where you can call a skilled tradesmen who is able to do it all…until now.
The handymans comeback began in 1997 after burned out and fed up restaurateur Andy Bell quit the rat race to create, manage and grow Handyman Matters, a franchise business that allows home or business owners to call a skilled, licensed and bonded handyman when they need to repair one of the seemingly endless problems that occur in virtually every residential and commercial building. Andy and his wife, Colette, began their journey in the basement of their home nearly 10 years ago and today boast not only a rapidly growing support staff, but also Handyman Matters stores in 26 states, Canada and Ireland.
The company offers home and business owners a convenient way to remedy common problems such as leaky faucets, flooring repair, to more complex issues such as remodeling a bathroom. Customers simply call a local number and explain their issue, while a proprietary database configures their location and the best handyman to send out for the job. The company plans to incorporate online scheduling in the coming months, by which customers can log on, explain the repair needed and schedule a time for a handyman to arrive.
For customers its about convenience, reliability and quality. For those who buy into the franchise, its about challenge and opportunity. So whether you need one or you are one, the consensus is: the era of handyman is back.
