Toronto Franchise Seminar “a Success”

BRONX (Monday, February 23, 2004) - “Successful” is how the President & CEO of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, Mr. Lowell Hawthorne, termed his company’s recent foray into the Toronto area of Canada as the company seeks to expand its franchise sales in North America.

“From all indications our franchise seminar was successful as we had good participation. There was tremendous interest and we are moving forward to put all the necessary instruments in place so that we can begin offering franchises in Toronto,” Mr. Hawthorne said.

The seminar, which was held at the Delta Chelsea Hotel in downtown Toronto on Friday night (February 20,2004), attracted the participation of numerous people from the Canadian Caribbean community.

Several attendees expressed the desire to become franchisees and urged the company to begin offering franchises.

The three-hour seminar saw Mr. Hawthorne outlining the growth of Golden Krust over the years and pointing out that Canada, especially the Toronto area, is a natural growth area for the company given the huge numbers of Caribbean nationals residing in the city.

“We look for a Caribbean base for our outlets and with more than an estimated 300,000 Caribbean nationals residing the market has great potential for us.” he said.

The seminar marked the first time that Golden Krust was attempting to penetrate the Toronto market.

Mr. Hawthorne noted that given the response, there is a definite market for Golden Krust in that market.

Following the presentations by Mr. Hawthorne and Mrs. Lorraine Morrison-Hawthorne, Director of Franchise Training, a lively question and answer period followed.

Golden Krust is now putting into all the requirements to aggressively enter the Canadian market.
