Fuddruckers At No. 285 In Top 500 Franchises

AUSTIN , TX (Friday, December 30, 2005) - Entrepreneur.com has released its annual ranking of the top 500 franchises in the world, and some Central Texas companies have made the cut.

Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 bases its list on certain criteria, including a minimum number of units and business activity.

"The most important factors include financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the system," according to Entrepreneur.com.

Topping the list is Milford, Conn.-based sandwich chain Subway, followed by Denver-based Quiznos Subs. Ranked third was Waco-based women's fitness center Curves International Inc.

Other Central Texas companies making Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 list include:

Austin's Keller Williams Realty Inc., No 66.
Georgetown's Sport Clips Inc., No. 81.
Fuddruckers, which recently relocated its headquarters to Austin, at No. 285.
Liberty Fitness, which also recently relocated its Liberty Fitness Holdings LLC business to Austin, at No. 460.
According to Entrepreneur.com, franchise companies must have a minimum of 10 units with at least one being a U.S.-based franchise, it must be seeking new franchisees in the U.S., and it cannot be in Chapter 11 at the time the rankings were compiled.
