Of Spirit Rides, And Tech Franchises – Expetec Technology Services

ABERDEEN, SOUTH DAKOTA (Thursday, January 15, 2004) - Expetec Technology Services, an internationally recognized franchising company with 49 franchises, announced today the gift of their landmark 50th franchise. It will go to Sitting Bull College, Standing Rock Reservation, Ft. Yates, ND that was Tribally Chartered in 1973. SBC is fully accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

In making this announcement, Lonnie Helgerson, President of Expetec®, said, “The reason we are granting this $20,000 franchise to Sitting Bull College is that we were inspired by the leadership of Ron His Horse Is Thunder, President and Bob Gipp, SBC’s Board of Trustees Chairman.

According to Helgerson, “Both of these men have shown a determination to give the best possible education to their students, now numbering over 300”. He added that, “One thing we really like is their visionary partnership with the University of South Dakota Business School on Native American Specific Entrepreneurial Education. This was made possible through a three year, $325,000.00 gift from the Tom and Danielle Aman Foundation in Aberdeen, SD. SBC is leading the way to economic development on the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s Reservation, and in turn making SBC a national leader in tribal economic education.”

Helgerson further stated that, “SBC is also a leader in tribal colleges through their self-funding business development initiatives. An example of this is the SBC Construction Company that competes on the open market for business. All profits derived from this venture are contributed back to educational expenses at the college.” “The same will be true for the Expetec® franchise.”

In accepting this grant on behalf of the college, Ron His Horse Is Thunder stated, “It seems appropriate for us that this announcement comes at this time of the year. On December 15th we will once again, conduct a Spirit Ride to commemorate the tragic death of our most famous leader, and my Great, Great, Great Grandfather, Sitting Bull who was killed in front of his lodge on that day in 1890. Our college is named in honor of him and his unwavering determination to lead his people to a better and more independent way of life. Expetec’s® generous gift of this franchise will certainly help fulfill his vision for our future.”
